RTT Hypnotherapy & Life Coaching for Kids and Teens

Geelong, Surfcoast & Online Australia

You know your child better than anyone. You can see that something is weighing on them; the reluctance to go to school, the meltdowns that come out of nowhere, the anxiety that wraps itself around everything they do.

You’ve tried reassurance, routine, patience, and probably a hundred other things.

What if the answer isn’t about trying harder but about reaching deeper?

At The Happy Thoughts Co., I work with children and teenagers from age 5 upward, helping them resolve anxiety, emotional dysregulation, fears, and behavioural challenges at the subconscious level, where lasting change actually happens.

Most parents notice meaningful shifts within two weeks. By the end of the 30-day program, the change is real, grounded, and lasting.

Is This Your Child?

Children and teenagers come to The Happy Thoughts Co. for many different reasons. Some of the most common presenting challenges include:

  • Anxiety — persistent worry, physical symptoms, and a nervous system that rarely feels at rest
  • School refusal — avoidance that goes beyond reluctance and affects the whole family
  • Emotional dysregulation — intense meltdowns, shutdowns, or mood swings that are hard to manage
  • Social anxiety — fear of judgment, difficulty making friends, or withdrawing from peers
  • Low confidence and self-esteem — a child who doesn’t believe in themselves
  • Fears and phobias — specific fears that limit what your child can do or enjoy
  • Separation anxiety — distress around being away from a parent or caregiver
  • Bullying — whether experiencing it or expressing it
  • Bed wetting (enuresis) — beyond the expected age, where the root cause is often emotional
  • Selective mutism — difficulty speaking in certain environments despite being able to speak in others
  • Sleep difficulties — trouble settling, frequent waking, or nighttime anxiety
  • Neurodivergence-related emotional challenges — supporting children who think and feel differently to regulate their nervous system

If your child is struggling with something not listed here, reach out anyway. If I can help, I will tell you. If I’m not the right fit, I will tell you that too.

Why RTT Works for Children and Teenagers

Most approaches to childhood anxiety and emotional difficulty work at the conscious level .

They teach coping strategies, challenge thinking patterns, or encourage gradual exposure. These can be useful, but they often don’t reach the subconscious programming that is actually driving the behaviour.

Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) works differently. During a session, your child enters a deeply relaxed, hypnotic state  (similar to daydreaming) that allows us to access the subconscious mind directly. In this state, we can identify where a pattern or belief originated, understand it in a new way, and replace it with something that actually serves your child. This is not about managing symptoms. It is about resolving the root cause.

Children are naturally excellent at entering this relaxed state, often more so than adults. They remain aware and in control throughout the session. Nothing happens without their willingness and comfort.

An Age-Appropriate Approach for Every Child

Every child is different, and sessions are always tailored to your child’s age, developmental stage, and individual needs. Here is how the approach adapts:

Ages 5 to 7 — Sessions for younger children are shorter, more play-based, and use imagination and storytelling rather than regression techniques. The focus is on building safety, confidence, and emotional language in a way that feels natural and engaging for a young child.

Ages 7 to 9 — Where a child is sufficiently mature, gentle regression techniques may be introduced to explore the origins of a pattern or belief. This is always assessed individually and never forced.

Ages 9 and above — Standard RTT sessions, fully tailored to the presenting issue. Teenagers are treated with the same depth and respect as adult clients, with session structure adapted to their communication style and maturity.

There is no upper age limit. Whether your child is five or fifteen or your ‘child’ is now an adult carrying patterns from their younger years,  this work can help.

The 30 Day Transformation

Single sessions are not offered for children and teenagers. This is intentional. Lasting change requires a supported process, not just one powerful moment, but the reinforcement and integration that follows it. The 30-day program is designed to give your child exactly that.

The program includes:

  • 1 x Guidance session (30 minutes) — to map out your child’s journey and set clear intentions for the work ahead
  • A personalised preparation meditation — to help your child feel calm, safe, and ready before the RTT session
  • 1 x RTT Hypnotherapy session (1 to 2 hours, adapted to age) — the core transformational session targeting the root cause of the presenting issue
  • 1 x Bespoke personalised hypnosis recording — created specifically for your child to listen to daily, reinforcing the new beliefs and neural pathways established during the session
  • 4 x weekly coaching sessions (30 minutes each) — to support integration, build on progress, and give your child practical emotional tools
  • Weekly check-in emails or texts — to track progress and keep you informed as a parent
  • 30 days of email and text support — so you are never navigating this alone

Most parents begin noticing changes in their child within the first two weeks. By the end of 30 days, the shift is tangible in how your child carries themselves, how they respond to challenges, and how they feel about who they are.

A Safe and Welcoming Space for Every Child

The Happy Thoughts Co. is a safe, affirming, and non-clinical space for all children. Neurodivergent children and those with sensory sensitivities are warmly welcomed.

Sessions are always adapted to suit how your child communicates and processes the world around them.

Sessions are available in person at our Mount Duneed, Geelong practice, or online via Zoom.

Accessible to families anywhere in Australia and internationally. No referral from a doctor or paediatrician is required to book.

School Refusal

"She has been doing better, wanting to go to school toward the end of this week - she was excited for NAPLAN! She, as a whole, is a lot calmer within herself - not so much in that fight or flight state any more.

I don’t know when the results come back, but she really enjoyed the 3 days she had NAPLAN! She keeps surprising me 🤣

I cannot thank you enough!"

Confidence

"We are so grateful for our experience with The Happy Thoughts Co!

Melanie was absolutely lovely, and her strategies really helped my son believe in himself and develop a much more positive outlook. The personalised meditation recording she created is so beautiful — something he can turn to whenever he needs, now and as he grows.

We’re so glad we found Melanie! 💛"

Chloe, Australia
Social Anxiety

" She did so well at camp, she stayed the first night but needed to be collected at 9pm the second night, the girls in her cabin were talking about the cabin being haunted, seeing men in black out the window etc..it understandable freaked her out!

But she happily returned at 7.30am for breakfast!

The work she did with you has had such a positive impact on her life!
